The Story Thus Far...
Shortly after Optimus Prime contacted the remaining Autobots to tell them of a gathering point and a home, he made contact of a different sort, with Starscream, again the de facto leader of the Decepticons. Faced with the inability to repair the damage their war did to Cybertron, and eventual extinction, the two began serious, and ultimately futile, peace talks. Though Prime pushed for a full resolution, the effort fell apart when Starscream refused to accept anything less than a seat as co-ruler with the Prime, despite the repeated offers of amnesty and a degree of autonomy for Starscream's followers. In the end, the two sides settled on an extended ceasefire, so that each could instead focus their energies on solving the entirely new set of problems the destruction of the All Spark presented them with.
The Prime's problems continued to mount the next time he received word from the Secretary of Defense. Keller regretted to inform him that, despite the best efforts of the humans actually acquainted with the Autobots, the government refused to see international refugee law as applying to robotic alien beings. They would be allowed to stay, but under a strict mantle of secrecy, registered with the government but without refugee aid.
Hesitant to further alienate such powerful allies, Keller organized the Dimplomatic Cybertronian Human Liaison offices and reformed Sector 7, and approached the Autobots with an offer of employment as military contractors. Optimus was hesitant to accept such an offer at first, but ultimately capitulated when he was reminded that there were less aggressive options as well. An agreement was reached, and the new S7 began training with their Cybertronian teammates, as last-ditch rescue and disaster response teams. Significant reasearch into Cybertronian technology also continued under this new S7, greatly helped by cooperation from the Autobots themselves. Of particular concern were technologies with humanitarian applications. Currently, an R&D program regarding the application of Cybertronian technology to improve medical prosthetics is their main focus, often pulling its test subjects from among their ranks.
